I installed the unit myself. It wasn't a big problem, but I did have to splice into the factory wiring and solder some connections as mine is an early model ( build date of 7/87) that still used individual wires instead of a single ISO harness that I have read about in later units. Installation should not be a big deal if you have a reasonable amount of technical ability. A moderate amount of dash disassembly was required. It took me about 4 hours but I imagine a professional shop should have it done in less then on hour.

It can be wired into the factory wiring to the stock power amp very easily. I bypassed the factory Front/Rear fader switch.

I was also looking the the CD-40Z and let myself get talked into the CD-45z. Not sure if it was worth the extra cash or not. I seem to recall that if you were thinking about adding the Nak CD changer at some future point, only the CD-45Z has the necessary control functions. If this isn't a consideration, then the CD-40 should be fine. I really like the simple interface, no disco lights or other silly thing happening on the display, and all the functions are arranged in a reasonably logical fashion.

Hope this helps, drop me an email if you need any additional information. Remove the obvious to get the address.

Regards

Mike

Mike--

I've been keeping my eye on the nakamichi. I was wondering if you installed the unit yourself or got it done. I'm looking to do it myself and save a few bucks. I'm thinking of the CD-40z. Are you pleased with the unit? Did you have any problems? Any advice would be great. Thanks much

Hazmat
