Hey fellow E32 lovers. I recently put 1,100 miles on the clock driving from Ventura County (~L.A.) Calif to the San Francisco area. The car ran fine and averaged 21.8 mpg for the entire trip -- most of which was 90+ driving. When I got back home Sunday night, off the freeway and on the surface streets, I was having some problems with harsh shifting from 1-2 and from D-R. I was thinking the worst and about how much it was going to cost me. However, I checked the transmission fluid yesterday and found that it was down about .8 of a quart. I replaced the fluid and everything was fine. So, my advice to all of you with rough shifting problems, check your fluid before you line the pockets of your favorite BMW technician. It worked for me!
