the hvac system in these cars can be elusive to fix. if everything is up to snuff with your ac system (as you explain it's been updated etc.) then it could be your heater valves letting hot coolant in... here's a way to check if this is happening: (Got this from a 'Bob" in the archives...don't forget to check the archives in the E38 board...a lot of e32 stuff is there from when the e38 board split off from us a while back)

"When you select a colder than ambient temp with your climate control, are the water hoses out of the heater valves (on the firewall in front of the driver) hot? If they are, then the heater valves are admitting hot water, which they should not be doing.

Pull the electrical plug on the valve and check for voltage. If you are asking for cooler than ambient air, the voltage should be 13 volts between the center and each side. If you have this and the valves are STILL admitting hot water to the heater core, the valves are bad."

i have searched the archives and have not found what i need. the problem im having is when the a/c is on cold setting, the air coming out is warm. the top vent is a little cooler as are the side vents, but the middle two are warm, about 80-87 degrees. i had the fan clutch, thermostat replaced. i have had the a/c drained, vacuumed, refilled with r-134a(this has the stop leak,dye,o-ring conditioner, added to the freon).my mechanic says the pressures are good. he told me that i could bypass the heating element, which i had replaced 2 weeks ago. any help is greatly appreciated. it is somewhat an embarrassment getting out of such a nice car with your clothes stuck to you and POURING sweat. oh also when using the 134a should you only use this or only one or two cans, the mechanic replace the entire system with it........
hot in texas, not enjoying it!!!!!!!!
