I had a dead battery problem while the lock was on the double lock mode. I could not get the emergency unlocking procedure to work. The lock moved a little, but not enough. I was able to force the passenger side lock up by pulling up on the lock knob from the inside (I had my small daughter crawl through the middle back seat and pulled up while I turned the key from the outside). However, now the passenger door will not lock. I can lock and unlock all the doors from the passenger door, but the passenger door itself will not lock. Any recommendations.
WARNING: the pic is taken from the view of the drivers side door...the PASSENGER side door is the OPPOSITE/REVERSE direction of the directions in the PIC. For your 89 you need to try to gain entrance from the PASSENGER side door first! If it doesn't work, then try the drivers side...remember to change direction when you try to unlock the two doors.

EMERGENCY UNLOCK PROCEDURE:
1. Insert the master key into the PASSENGER door.
2. Pull up and HOLD the door handle.
3. Turn the key clockwise to emergency unlock position until lock pops up. (position 5 in pic since it's opposite)
4. Open the door.

Q
91 735iL

Uh Oh.....
My 89 735i will not unlock with the key. Dead battery perhaps, but how do I get into the darned thing to check the battery? Of course the car is the last one in the driveway, so nobody leaves till it moves....
Any Help will be Greatly Appreciated, Steve
