Your door light problem could be a couple of things. First, the overhead light switch has 3 positions. Make sure that you try all three. Second, you may have a bad switch in your door...meaning it may be stuck or defective. Generally, this is limited to just a door. If your light doesn't come on when any of the doors are open, or when you lift on the drivers side door handle (cool feature) then you need to check fuses. If everything is in order there.. you need to take it to an electrical shop, or to your local dealer.

: : So I just bought this 1990 525i and have a few questions. When the car is cold, getting it into reverse or 1st takes some real elbow grease. Any thoughts as to why and what can be done to ease the shifting some? Also, the interior lights don't illuminate when the car door is open. Any tips much appreciated. thx, Mark
