Go to Brett Anderson's site (URL below) and read his page on the V8 and how to find the serial number of your block.

'95 530ia

: Which side of the block when looking from the radiator and is it at the front or the rear - any further hints ??

: : I read the codes off of mine from under the hood (94 530ia) with a flashlight and one of those little extension round mirrors that can swivel on the end. I could only make our the last 3 digits (970) but this was enough to confirm that mine was a Nikasil block.
