: The tab on your turn signal switch assembly has broken off (probably when a bad mechanic reinstalled steering wheel while turn signal was engaged). To Replace the switch assembly, remove steering wheel, disconnect battery, remove airbag (two torx screws from behind), remove the retaining nut or bolt, turn ignition key to on, remove wheel, remove upper and lower column covers, then remove switch and wiring. Do not connect the battery while the airbag is removed!!!

: : This is unrelated, but I have a turn siginal switch that does not return. I've removed the steering wheel from older 5 series but the air bag scares me. How did you get to the retaining nut?
