I've checked the accessory catalog at my local dealer and found a few options. The basic cross pieces that attach to the roof run a bit over $500. There are ski racks and a roof box that resembles a Thule unit. The parts are available on special order (takes about a week).

I believe the roof box costs around $1500 from BMW. A similar unit from Thule is around $500-$600.

I am thinking of getting the cross pieces from my dealer and then getting the Thule box. Just stay away from the Sears roof boxes. They are like putting a sail on your roof.
