Any help on rims for a 530i (archive)

Posted by Byron in Dallas on April 06, 1999 at 10:12:00:

I have a 1995 530i with the light alloy 20 spoke rims on it (7x15). I'm interested in upgrading my rims but I have a few problems:
1. I have an extended warranty that I will not violate and the warranty company, although through BMW, has indicated that I'm realistically restricted to going with BMW factory rims (not that big an issue to me) and 15" rims since that is what the car came with (a little disappointing - the 17" rims are nice).
2. My car color is Aspen Silver/Arctic Grey (I'm told that they're essentially the same). As such, I want either a polished aluminum or chrome rim for the car - I'm personally not a fan of light alloy on a silver car.

My Questions:
1. Do you know of a good place to get BMW factory rims at a good price? I don't mind used rims for a 95 530i as I may chrome plate them anyway.
2. Do you any place that chrome plates or polishes the rims (e.g. like the polished aluminum rims)- good quality and price are important - I was told by my dealer that the only place in the country doing this for BMW is in California - this is not a problem as I was born and raised out there and my family is still in San Diego.

Thanks for your help!
