I Just purchased a 1989 535i with 89K. A very nice car with recent A/C compressor installed and a new clutch, pressure plate etc.. from a local BMW dealer. I have owned this car two months and have a problem. When the car sits for three or four days in garage ( I also drive a restored 67 VW Beetle), The clutch pedal is at the correct height but it engages and disengages at the floor. Drive it a few miles and it starts to engage and disengage higher in the pedal travel, I have found that my dealer is like the worst service dealership for BMW in the entire South Central Region. Could they have done something wrong or is my slave cylinder going bad and I am getting air in the line?? My Brake fluid level is normal and not dropping.
I have ordered a slave and master from Bavarian Auto and my good friend who is an SAE mechanic and I are going to change these things out.
If this sounds like the right action please let me know or should I take the car back to the dealer and let them investigate. Thanks for the help
