I had the windshields on my both cars replaced. My Audi was done by Harmon glass (following what the insurance company "recommended"). They were only ok, and I do hate the non-Audi labeled glass. So when it comes to my bimmer, I got mine replaced at the local BMW dealer.
In my state (MN), the glass is fully covered so my insurance company has to reimburse the whole amount. I think a big chunk of the money (150 or so) was the replacement of the black side moldings along the windshield, as others just re-use them. My dealer asked me to leave the car overnight, so they can make sure that the sealants were tight and there was no leaks before they returned the car to me. Others might have different opinion but I think I like the craftmanship skills as well as the fact and joy of having BMW-logo windshield!
Hope this helps! :-)
: Have a 1990 535i/105K mi with normal windshield sandblast damage over the years. Some of the national glass replacement guys quoted me around $200-225 for German replacement glass (Sekurit/Sigla?).They come right to your home-takes about 30 minutes.Too good to be true? The local BMW shop in NJ wants $600-700.I've read that replacing glass in the E34 is a bit more involved than other models. Anyone with experience on this? Danke
