: I just purchased 95 530i this year. I was unaware of the sulfur problems.
: Of course I want to go ahead and get the new engine. I do not want to be arguing with a dealer about replacing my engine. I simply want to have the peace of mind that I have always had in my other 2 bmw's.
: Please advise which dealer has the least hassle in atlanta area concerning engine replacement. What did you have to say to get yours replaced.
: One service advisor at Chris BMW, told me 7 days ago that if they test the engine and find no defects I will have to pay for the test. Is this the experience you had to go through? Or have they figured out a way to charge a service charge.
: I do not feel that I should have to pay to get engine checked. Am I correct?
: please advise, and advise which dealer to go through in and around atlanta Ga/ Augusta ga area Thanks.
I do not live in Atlanta, but you do not have to pay for the test. BMW pays the dealer for it (but I think for only one test). That is the purpose of the test - to find out if there is a problem - you do not have to pay if ther is not a problem. I have a 94 530i but have not had the engine swap yet. I am planning to take it in for a test this summer, however.
