MJ, I have a 95 525I which fortunately has no problems but I also have an 89 Izuzu Trooper with 125,000 miles this car however has started to loose coolant so fast that I need to add one third of a gallon of coolant mix for every 30 miles traveled. No evidence of any leak anywhere but I notice some excess white smoke on initial start up but this eventually disappears as well. Engine performance in my opinion is unchanged apart from the apparent age of the vehicle. Diagnosis given was a blown head gasket. I guess my point is. performance may not necessarily be affected right away with a blown head gasket
however continuing to use the vehicle will most certainly cause more severe problems. Good luck.
