On my 1990 (although I think I have 91 wiring harness), the fusible link in a black plastic holder that is about 4" long and 1 1/2 or 2" wide. It is on a cable from the + battery terminal about 8" from the battery (this is the smaller lead from the battery). The plastic holder snaps open and there are 3 bolted connections. One of the wires is connected to the positive lead thru the fusible link. The other wire is connected to the positive lead thru a copper jumper.

: Would be glad to know where to find the fuse you're talking about.
: Experienced the same problem on my 91 525i. Dealer had no answer. Up till now I suspected the connectors under the rear seat, but could not find it. Disconnecting the battery and leave it disconnected for 10-20 minutes would cure the problem for some time.
: Getting in from the right side, climbing into the back, dismount the seat and then disconnect the battery is no fun.
