The "hack" adapter you refer to is a hubcentric ring. These have been used for decades to great success in multiple applications. Just because YOU don't appreciate the application doesn't make it a fact that their use is unadvisable, FACTMASTER!

In the future, reserve comment for "facts" you can back with "real" data.
