Your worries are over.Any one whose seat or headrest no longer work, but the motors still run, check out the following URL
I fixed my headrests last night. It was a snap

: : I have a 94 530i. The driver seat motor for up/down
: : motion are not working. One is running and the other
: : is not. Anyone have this issue? Cost of repair?
: : Is it a do it yourself or mechanic jog?
: : THanks

: : John

: John,
: I had a problem where the seat would not go down after my wife drove the car and put the seat all the way up. I had it to the dealer and was told that the cable came loose. It was not cheap to fix but less so than replaceing the motor.
