: : : The valves are adjusted at every inspection 1 and 2, I hope your copy of the list included this item, it isn't that difficult. Looks like a complete inspection. Good job! Jr. 89 535...

: That often? You must be kidding right? I did the valve adjust on my '90 535i (pretty easy as long as your engine is DEAD cold) and the manual doesn't specify another adjustment until Inspection II is due again. Doing it at Inspection I would only be like 10,000 miles and probably a waste of time unless you really noticed a rough idle. Doing it every 20,000 at Inspection II should be plenty.

: No, that's really what the manual suggests, I'm not kidding. It is the first item on both lists, inspection 1and 2. Look carefully..both Bentlys and the owners manual suggest this. You are probably right about the frequency of adjustment, the one thing that probably needs to really be addressed here are the loose banjo bolts that bolt down the oil rail for the cam. They have been known to back out before a 10,000 mile adjustment. Think I'll stick to the every inspection check/adjust just for peace of mind. Jr. '89 535 117,000
