If you have removed the hex head screw in the front of the shift knob (facing the dash), the knob should come off with a pull in the upward direction. You may need to hold the release lever in. I have removed this many times without any problem, but it may take a little coaxing the first time.

: trying to replace the shift knob (t-bar)on my 94 530iT and i can't seem to remove the damn thing. i have unscrewed the only screw there is on the thing but it seems to be stuck.
