As for the amount of force, that's relative so I can't really say. You can twist the knob side to side somewhat (about 1/8-1/4 turn). The actuator lever inside the arm is plastic and hooks to a pin in the handle, so don't over do the twisting.

: i've tried pressing the lever but that also did not work. i think it may be stuck somehow, perhaps since it has never been removed. how much force can you pull on it without damaging anything and can i twist it off? would that cause any damage?
