M20B?? - 2.5l engine found in the 91-on 525i. Started to have VANOS in ??'93??. More HP and torque than the M20, very helpful in a heavy car like the 5ers.

: : I've seen some postings on the board about engines in the 5 series. What is the m50 and the m60/m62? Are there any other engines that come with these cars that give good performance or the standard by which later models are judged by. Also, I'm looking to purchase a 1989-1991 BMW 525i or 535i, whichever I can find that is more affordable, with around 100k or less mileage on it and a manual transmission. I have been searching dealers, but my credit is bad (damn student loans!) plus I cannot get a bank loan. I have about $3500-$4000 grand to put down. Any body on the list know someone or has a car for sale that they are willing to work out some kind of payment arrangement with me on. Please email if you know of any or have some suggestions for my dilemma that may prove helpful.

: : hope to be in a 5 er soon
