If it is the ignition switch and it is $$$$. May I suggest a "junk" yard. After all, the switch should be similar to most other BMW models. After you open the shroud, you'll see how simple that ignition switch is. To replace it, you may have to get a soldering gun, heat the solder and remove the 3 (?) wires off. IT is very simple.
