Two years ago I bought an 89 535 that was showing seepage from the timing cover, oil pan and head gaskets. I bought the car anyway expecting to replace those gaskets, which I did one year later. Total cost at a dealer was about $1900, but worth it, the engine is still strong. I always prefer to do things the right way, that provides beter results and doesn't cost any more in the long run.
: I have oil leaking from the timing belt cover & oil pan. I also have power stearing fluid leaking from the stearing box. Has anyone tried some of the stop leak additives to cure these problems. My repair shop quoted me almost $1,800 to replace the gaskets and seals.
