The ventilation in my '85 535i provides lots of fresh air but the A/C has been an expensive headache that I have just about given up trying to fix. I just don't drive it much on summer days in Texas.

My '92 525iT has much better A/C but I get complaints from the back seat when the temp is over 90. The small vent at the rear of the center console does little when the outside temp is 105 or more. The fresh air is not as strong as the E28 but air flow to the foot wells seems improved.

This analysis has no scientific basis and YMMV.
