: : i've got a severe problem that is kicking my butt. let's see if anyone has any ideas. i've got a 1990 e-34 525ia. while idling, the car all of a sudden starts to run real rough. when this occurs, you can hear the injectors fire very, very fast. at the same time, the fuel pump relay, and the o2 heater relay do the same thing as well as the idle control valve. one other thing that is kindof strange is that the matrix in the instrument cluster goes mad when all of this is going on, and the check engine light flashes quickly. there are no faults being stored in the control unit, and i have ruled out the following: control unit, coil, crank trigger, relays, idle valve, cap & rotor, throttle position switch, air flow meter, wiring harness. any help anyone could give would certainly be appreciated at this time. this problem occured very suddenly, and comes and goes very intermittantly. it may occur every 10-20 seconds sometimes, then clear up for a little while, then go crazy again.

: : thanks in advance for any input.
