Wow, I didn't know Jim C. monitored our lowly 5er (geezer grocery-getter) message board. I have your chip on my 1990 5-speed 535i and am thoroughly satisfied with it. I didn't buy the chip for additional horsepower, either. If I was looking for serious hp gains I'd look elsewhere. I was mostly interested in the extra driveability, smooth and instant partial-throttle power delivery, and of course the added oomph at the extended redline. I could care less about MPG too. I have to admit that I was a little hesitant to get the chip for my BMW though. I experienced great gains with my Autothority Stage 2 chip for my Porsche 944 Turbo, but that car has computer-regulated boost control and I had heard that not much could be done to normally-aspirated vehicles. Boy was I wrong. Thanks Jim, you did a great job, and my car is a LOT more fun to drive now. And that is what's most important to me. Your chip and the Valentine 1 have been the best additions to my car so far.
