Do *not* have a dealership do this if you have any idea on how to fix this yourself. Hehe. I just spent $180 to get it fixed because the EXACT problem happened plus the headrest died too. Anyways, should've listened to everyone here and I'd be $180 richer. :)

: OK, I need help. My passenger front seat in my 89 535i 5-speed, 92K is doing something strange. When you try to recline it (adjust the back rest only one side moves and the seat reclines crooked. What is involved here?
: I looked in my Bentley and Chilton and Haynes and it looks like there must be a cable involved. I have not taken the seat apart yet, will that be necessary?
