CD changer install problem (archive)

Hi folks,

I'm installing a CDX-M30 changer in my '90 535 and am getting an error which I can't seem to figure out.

The discs are recognized by the radio, as the numbered buttons are illuminated to match the number of CDs installed. However, the CD will not play and I get "ERR" in the radio display. The manual for the changer lists errors but only those with numbers after them.

Anyone else experienced this problem? I think the changer might be at fault but it changes discs fine, just won't play. The other radio functions are working just fine. I know it's a Pioneer radio, the model number is KE-83 ZBM.

Any suggestions are welcome via private email or the board.
