I would use some oil in my 535i but could find no spot in the garage or under the hood. When I bought the car 2 yearsd ago my mechanic said he could find a tiny leak around an engine gasket but that it was the lowest priority thing to do because it barely lost a quart in 3000 miles. He said budget the money to replace all the gaskets at once because of their age and brittleness through so many hot -cold cycles. Did it last summer, cost several hundred
bucks, but it doesn't use a drop now. We also knew the engine was in great shape mechanically and internally after a tune-up and leakdown test. I guess the moral is it's better to replace them all and save multiple labor costs than to do it one at a time.

: Hello,

: My '92 525i(m) seems to have an appetite. Yet I can't locate any "tell tale signs".

: The facts:
: ~1qt oil/1200miles
: No black spot in the drive way
: No black smoke out the tail pipe

: Where is it going !!

: Anybody have some M50 experiences to share. I'm open to any educated guesses as well.

: Thanks,
: M.J.

: P.S. My car has 2 of the "classic" E34 problems...door panel vinyl coming unglued, the slightly rocking drivers seat rails, and the sword/fan speed BS. Beyond that, this car provides the most enjoyable drive I have ever know. It continues to thrill me every time I take it out. So, help me keep it. This oil issue has got to go.
