as per cek's post... get you hands on a roundel magazine and look at what's for sale...
Pages 119 and 120 of the November Roundel has classified ads for THREE 1995 540i Sports (2 6-speeds, one auto). Here's the text:
"1995 M540i sport VIN WBAHE5326SGA65542. Cosmos black with light gray leather. One of 120 (sic) imported. Excellent condition. 35k miles. New tires, Dinan exausht, chip, air intake, 6-speed. Pampered. $37,000. Fran Consentio: 716 242-2202 (NY)."

"1995 M540i sport. Cosmos black/silver, one of approximately 40 made. A truly classic beauty. Condition is Bavarian classic showroom with approximately 10k miles. Thi impecably cared for automobile with all available accessories is the driver's ultimate dream machine. Auto/E/Manual. Sacrifice $37,500. Roger: 516 667-1306 (d); 516 661-4256 (e). (NY)"
Also the information is a little incorrect as there were 135 6-speeds imported, not 120. And 65 autos, not 40.
: Greetings Folks:
: I am in the market for a used 540i. However, I insist upon the manual transmission. Is there a big difference between the 1994 and the 1995 models? What would be a decent price in the Midwest for a used 1995 540i 6-speed? Any advice on buying this car? I would appreciate any help that one could offer a BMW novice:)
