Along the lines of another follow up... Why the rings? I am not saying they don't need to be done, but if the compression is low it may be valves, and if the car smokes it is frequently valve stem seals. After nine years, the stem seals are probably little crusty bits. They are much easier to change than the rings and if worn can cause astonishing oil consumption. Many a mechanic jumps to the assumption of rings on a high mile engine when they are not the cause of the problem. Just my two cents...
