In Reply to: 535i pull to left - Need Ideas as to why. posted by Matt on November 02, 1999 at 17:38:58:

: My 1990 535i 5-speed has a subtle pull to the left when driving under normal conditions. It's not strong, and it seems to come and go, though lately it become more prevalant.

: I thought I felt a this a few months ago, and had the alignment and tires checked. The alignment was fine, and the tires were wearing perfectly even. I had the tires looked at again when I had my inspection 2 just before the road trip. Over time, and especially on my 3000-mile road trip, the pull has become more pronounced, though it's stull subtle and seems to vary in intensity over the course of driving around. Also, I would swear (from being in tune with feedback transmitted though the frame of the car) that the culprit is the left rear wheel. The tires is fine, but what about the suspension? Are the points on the suspension that would wear out in a mannner as to cause the pulling?

: I'm taking the car into the shop tomorrow (independent, BMW only, trustworthy) to work on this and I'd like to arm them with any ideas and experiences from others that might help them track this down.

: Thanks alot,
: -Matt
