This guy is asking $8500. He is the second owner and has a stack of maintenance records from the first owner, but I haven't looked through them yet. Anyway, I just can't see him knocking that much off the price, maybe $500 or so but not much more. The price seems fair based on my research. I will be having it inspected at a BMW dealer, but prefer the grass roots comments like Berts. Any other comments?
: have the owner verify whether or not he has had the front end work done--don't believe him if he
: says it doesn't need any work--THEY ALL NEED WORK!
: the complete repair should include upper and lower control arms, and be sure the bushings are upgraded to the 750i model...negotiation wise, this should knock about $700-800 off the price...
: electronics were a little squirrely on the 88's and 89's, but they seemed to have ironed the problems out by the 90 model...verify that the si or motherboard has been replaced--these things go bad like clock work due to corrosion of the components and soldering on the board...figure
: about $750 for the part and $100 for the labor...
: if there are no records for either of these items, negotiations START with him coming AT LEAST $1600
: off his asking price...otherwise, you'll have way too much in this car in a relatively short period of time...been there, done that...
