I don't know about the labor hours; you do have to drop the front part of the drive shaft. However, the price for the part seems high; my 1994 530ia had the short block replaced at the dealer about two months ago and I had them replacd the flex disk ("guibo", I think it is called). The price of the disk was about 80$. It's hard to believe that your's would be a lot higher. My suggestion is to call the parts department yourself and check on the price.

: I had my 95 525ia in for service today. It has 40K miles and is exactly 5 years old. The dealer told me that the flexiable Disk Coupling is cracking and should be replaced in the near future.

: How do I tell if it time to replace or just the dealer drumming up extra billable work? BTW, the estimate was $217 for the part and 2.7 hours labor.

: Thanks,
