In case anyone has any input/ideas, here it is: New to me, '91 with 88K on the odo. When backing up you need to hold the shift lever in reverse until the car starts to move, otherwise it pops out or doesn't go into reverse. Also, (maybe unrelated) the transmission is noisy in neutral with the clutch out. Putting the clutch part way in doesn't help, the clutch has to be all the way in. So I was thinking input shaft bearings but the noise is an intermittent "CLACK" sort of thing, especially when the engine is rapidly slowing (such as a quick throttle blip or shutting the key off). I have been told that individual parts are hard to find and my factory manual seems to be missing any in depth information on the gearbox. Anyone have any similar experiences or information on parts availability and where to find the "construction group repair manual" for this little project? Thanks.
