Bavarian Autosport sells a leather wrap that looks very good when installed (if you take the time to do it right). I like the feel much better than the original as well.

: I have a 90 525i, and the leather steering wheel has a black finish of some sort that is flaking off. The appearance doesn't matter to me, but the chips fall all over the car.
