I bought mine at www.allbmwparts.com.

According to the receipt, their part number is 11511 744. They charged me $39.95. I just replaced it one a '93 525i today. Ialso bought the water pumps for a '95 525 and a '96 328. All the water pumps are identical.

I also changed the thermostat. A word of advice. The thermostat housing (the black plastic you see when you pop open the hood) has a small rubber gasket. I would suggest you buy that from the dealer. It looks almost square, 1.5" by 2" and fits inside a groove on that housing. When I changed the thermostat I did not have that piece and am afraid that in the future, that area may be a source of leakage.

Unlike other advice I have seen, you must remove the fan. I tried removing everything but that large nut at the fan and, at the end, could not remove the water pump out. Ultimately, had to remove that large nut at a delay of 2 hours! Never again. Next time, the changeout should take only 2 hrs, not 4.

Keep checking out this board. I will write a more expanded step-by-step procedure on replacing that pump. BTW, you cannot tell from the outside. This '93 had 80K miles and the pump was still in good shape.

Hector
