I hope that I didn't appear too mercenary as I do sympathize with you for, in 35 years of driving, I have been in accidents that have totalled 3 cars. Two were in the realm of "sh&* happens" (one a drunken idiot u-turning in the dark with no lights on and the other was a simple one brake failure!) and one was my fault (fast car and invincible driver aka The Young and the Reckless!). Two of the three were really classic cars, a Ford Cortina GT and a Sunbeam Tiger, and I still get sick when I think about it.

Thank the Lord most of them happened over 25 years ago but I did have an incident that happened to me about 5 years ago. I had a pristine Toyota Supra Turbo and while the wife and I were driving up to Milwaukee in heavy (but fast!) traffic, some ancient Buick shed one of those huge steel wheel covers and I had to grit my teeth as I held the wheel straight and watched the sucker hit me head on...completely smashed in the front air dam of the car. Not as bad as a total obviously, but a real pisser when you know the inevitable is coming and there is bugger all you can do about it!
Are you on the lookout for another E34?
