Well, my 525iT suffers an annoying shimmy between right around 50 mph. A BMW specialist had it on a lift to perform a brake flush and I mentioned the problem. The first thing he looked at was the tranny mount, then the engine mounts... both needed replacing (though not urgently). He looked at the control-arm bushings, and he said they still felt tight.

My car has about 50k miles on it... and that danged shimmy is starting to really annoy me. So as it's convenient, the car is going in and having the mounts replaced... I'll be sure to share the results.
