Rock,
I painted my calipers and they look great. I took the wheels off, sandpapered and wire brushed them. Masked it off with newspaper and painted away. I used aluminium silver color as it is a green car I have.
I could not get Folia Tec here so I used a Rust-o-leum High temp paint. Its good up to 1000 degrees. There is also an exhaust paint on the shelves that goes up to 1200 derees.
The outcome is worth it !! But don't over do it so that it looks cheap.
