: Since I bought my '91 535a the "inspection" light has been illuminated on start up. I know this refers to BMW's annual corrosion check but don't feel like visiting the dealer for such a small item. The standard service light resetting tool doesn't affect this display but I know it works by grounding certain pins within the service diagnostic port under the hood. Does anyone know if grounding another of the pins turns the offending light out? If so which one? Thanks in advance.

This inspection light has nothing to do with BMW corrosion inspection. It comes on to indicate that the car is "due" for a Inspection I or II service, fancy lingo for modern day tune-up.
