Shaun,

I would "nitpick" everything to the insurance company. You might have suspension problems going over a curb, bent frame, exhaust problems, etc. All very expensive.

When I read your post I thought "Totalled", and when I read your $3K - $4K estimate, I thought "no way".

No matter how good of work someone does you've got a patched up car. Take all the good / after-market parts off the car and get another late-model E34.

I speak from experience - just did it in January.

Another option is to get the car totalled and buy the "scrap" back from the insurance company. You sould pay no more than 33% of book value. Then you're on your own for repairs.

Godd Luck whatever happens.

: Hello all,

: I just had to vent a little to my fellow e34'ers. Yesterday on my lunch hour, an idiot in a Dodge Pickup was driving way too fast for the icy/snowy (light snow, not that bad out) conditions and lost control heading westbound, jumps a divided median and over into eastbound traffic, smashing into my drivers side from out of nowhere! Left front drivers fender and wheel totaled. Flattened three of the four tires. Drivers door and mirror damaged pretty good but can still open. Looks like hood as well. I finally came to a stop after planting me up on a tall curb on the right side. I was unhurt but really pissed. Airbag didn't deploy due to angle of hit. The ol' girl did what she was supposed to do and protected me. A pristine example of a e34 badly damaged. I would say at least $3000-4000 easy. Don't know yet but its not nearly enough to be totaled. At least I have it at a excellent body shop here in Denver that specializes in German Autos and was refered by my dealer. The jerks insurance will cover it due to it being his fault obviously. If I get pictures form the body shop, I'll try to post them. Watch for those wreckless idiots guys, they're out there everywhere!

: Shaun Kelly,
: '94 525ia in the shop to get back to good as new.
