Brake Dust, brake pads and "Clean Wheels" (archive)

Can anyone suggest a quality brake pad that doesn't erode brake dust as fast as a sand dune?

Any opinions on "Clean Wheels", the plastic/aluminum plate you can insert between the wheel and brake assembly to limit visible dust? As I'm not racing, I'm not concerned with slightly lower cooling to the brakes.

I'm driving the full stretch of I-5 down the center of California tomorrow. First long roadtrip in the car. Got my self a V-1 radar detector for Christmas!

Happy holidays,
