If you plan to do this more than once or have more than one vehicle with the ATE-style reservoir, Steve D's pressure cap will pay for itself over and over. Not that it costs much to begin with, $30 comes to mind.

Use an air source at around 10-15 psi and the job is painless, quick and clean.

If you have a manual transmission, be warned that the clutch feed to the master is located very high up in the reservoir so when bleeding the clutch, keep the level in the reservoir near the top at all times. I learned the hard way when large gobs of air appeared at the slave cylinder. Recovery was simple though.
