: You know, the spot that develops under your car, it wasn't there a week ago. It finally shows up at the front of the air dam by the foglight. The blue colored drip that is barely noticeable, but still hangs from the fastener. I've searched all over hoping to find a hose or connection that has served its usefullness to no avail. How often does the rubber O ring that seals the plastic well housing to the radiator tubes go out? If it is barely leaking now, how much time before she blows? I checked with Reseda and was quoted 125 for a rebuilt. Has anyone used rebuilts with any luck? Lastly, how many beers will it take to replace it. Thanks guys for your posts. : Jr '89 535 120000
hey Jr, happy new year! and welcome to the poor design section of the e34...luckily it's a small section.
I'm sort of in the same boat, no leaking from mine, but was forced to trim the reservoir neck a few months back because the last few threads had cracked off when i changed the hose. I trimmed the little stopper tabs, and shoved the hose further on the neck, then GENTLY retightened it. This neck section and the o-ring seem to be the weak points after 10 years/100k. It's held now for over 6 or 7 months, but it's just a matter of time i know. I keep an eye on it and have a new radiator sitting in my garage for when it finally goes (so unfortunately i don't have a "# beers rating" for this job) I got mine from one of the vendors in the back of the Roundel for $329--i've heard good things about Reseda rebuilts, but the reality is they ARE rebuilts. Just keep an eye on it, and start saving your pennies for a replacement.
