I'm living with the same problem, but am currently investigating options. The instrument cluster circuit board is defective. Solutions are: One is to buy a rebuilt board (very expensive ~$700 range), one is to get the existing one rebuilt (haven't priced this out yet, I expect about $300-$400, Programa seems to be the place of choice), one it to buy a used instument cluster ($400, but if the board has not been rebuilt, then all you've got is a ticking time bomb), the last is to try to repair the board (check the link below, there's a possible solution, required replacing 5 capacitors on the board, about $5 and labor, if it works. I'm considering trying the last option, since about two years ago, I bought another cluster to replace the defective original one. So, I have a spare board to experiment with. If it works, I'll let folks know.
