I have a 535i also and I recently replaced it. I went with a place called powertrain industries in Ca. They had the best price and I am very satisfied with the drive shaft. My car is an automatic so I experienced slightly different vibrations than you.
In my case the center support was bad and I had a loud clunking noise while pulling away from the stop light. So I went to the parts store and bought a center support bearing. This did in fact stop the clunking but in its place I got a vibration similar to the one that you described. So I had to drop the exhaust again and fix the driveshaft. 8)
As far as the guibo is concerned I can say that my car definitely does not have one!!! Your car may or may not. On my car there are three universals and a center support. Two of the universals are the typical T variety and the third is a constant velocity joint (CV). The person that I spoke to on the phone at powertrain industries thought that the CV joint might be bad. But my friend with the 4x4 got the diagnosis right. He said that the seals in the universal go bad and the universal seizes. This is exactly what happened with my universal.
This is getting kind of long so I will try to stop here. But there are two things that might interest you also. The CV joint is connected to the differential and it has the boot inside not outside, take a look you’ll know what I mean. Spraying WD40 on my front universal joint (the one near the tranny)loosened it enough to stop the vibration for several days (I did this twice and then I replaced the shaft).

: I have an emerging "vibration" in the driveline of my 90 535i. Gear selector vibrates in 4th gear, varies with engine load on acceleration & deceleration, no chassis vibration at this time.
: Thanks in advance!
