This is how I have done to try to locate it. I lifted up the shift knob housing cover (about 7"x12" flat piece surrounding shift knob and boot). I lifted it from the rear (towards rear of car) instead of the front and kinda broke one of the 2 tabs (superglued back on without a problem). It should be lifted from the front and then slid it forward to remove (amazing how you learn after you break something). The shift boot and housing cover now slid up over the shift knob exposing the rubber boot around the bottom of the shift shaft. I unseated that boot and slid it up a bit, now exposing a white "geared bushing" (caked with tan colored grease) around where the shift shaft goes down into the car. There is alot of open space down there with limited visibility due to the small opening and that boot in the way. I looked in there very good for a switch/plug/wires and didn't see anything at all. I was a little nervous with that greased bushing exposed...afraid I might get some debris in I closed things up. Can anyone help me?
