: I noticed my pass side wiper arm is starting to rub on the back lip of the hood. Snipped these from the archives. My hood seems aligned properly, and i'm not crazy about moving the wiper arm up a few splines, but curious if anyone has been successful in getting a new lower-profile wiper arm from your dealer. I called my local one, and they're playing (or really are) dumb on any campaign /tech bulletins issued for it. Thx ron 89 525i

: from the archives:
: *There was a campaign on this arm. BMW has a replacement arm that is not as high and this fixes the problem.

: *the TSB recommends that the hood be adjusted forward and up.

: *move the wiper arm up a few splines.

I bought a new Bosch Excel wiper blade and trimmed off the last inch of wiper and blade. It clears perfectly, is a nice new tight blade and you really don't see any change in the area that it covers. Total cost was $12 at Autozone. I also bought a 24" refill for the Bosch wipers and crimped the factory wiper arm a few thousands to cold the smaller refilss, total new wiper cost $19 for identical new Bosch Excel wipers that clear the hood.

Be very careful with the wiper arms I would reccomend putting a small pillow between the windhsield and the wiper arms while you are working on them, if you let go of an arm they are very heavily loaded and will damage with windhsield if they hit it. I learned this the hard way and am now replacing my windshield.
