This might stir up some controversy, but what is the better way to go with a 535, manual or auto. What are the pros and cons in terms of performance (I know an auto eats a lot of hp), reliability, smoothness of shifts, and overall joy of driving the car.

For those of you who drive the 5 speed manual cars, how smooth, precise, and crisp is the shifting and what are your opinions on the clutch. I have a friend who had a 6 speed 540 and the clutch let out very high (may have been adjustable) and the transmission shifted very sloppy. I was wondering if I should expect the same when I get a chance to get in a 535 5 speed. I have always driven manual transmission cars and love them but after driving the BMW 6 speed, I am not sure if that is the way to go with these cars. Educate me please.
Thanks,
JD
