Don't know what you drove before in the People's Republic of California, but registration price is based on value of car, which ain't based on market or what you paid for the used car, but on original MSRP factored down over time. Sucks.

Nevada is the same way. Makes me yearn for NJ.

Personal property taxes are tax deductible if you itemize your deductions on your tax return.
